When you call Lockshire Locksmiths you speak to Darren Walton, not a call centre or a booking agent. He’s Cheshire-based and covers the whole of Poynton — the village centre and the shared-space crossroads where London Road meets Park Lane and Chester Road, out along Dickens Lane and Towers Road, up to Higher Poynton and Shrigley Road North, and across the estates either side of South Park Drive. Most SK12 calls are answered inside 30 minutes, and the person who picks up the phone is the person who turns up at your door.
Poynton’s housing is a mix, and it changes what’s behind your door. The town has roughly trebled in size since 1945, so a lot of the stock is post-war and later estate housing with uPVC and composite doors running multipoint locks, while the older brick cottages and terraces closer to the village and the former colliery lanes often still run mortice and rim locks. Darren carries euro cylinders, anti-snap upgrades, multipoint gearboxes and mortice locks in the van, which is why most Poynton jobs are finished on the first visit rather than booked in for a return. If you need urgent help, visit our Emergency Locksmith Cheshire page or call now for immediate assistance.
Done by Darren himself — no call centre, no job passed on.
One of the jobs Darren has handled for a homeowner in Poynton.
Sash lock swapped for a euro cylinder and thumbturn — Poynton
The front door at this Poynton property still had a traditional sash lock, so a key was needed to get out as well as in. Darren fitted a euro cylinder with an internal thumbturn — turn it and go, no key needed from inside. Ultion Plus cylinder on the outside, so nothing was given up on security. Worn handles replaced at the same time.

Locked out? Darren gains access using specialist tools — non-destructive in the vast majority of cases, leaving your door, frame and lock intact.
Lost your keys? The proper fix isn't cutting new ones — it's changing the cylinder so the originals don't work at all. Darren fits a new cylinder with fresh keys included, on the same visit.
Darren carries euro cylinders, mortice locks and British Standard approved options on the van — fitted on the same visit, old keys stop working immediately.
Break-in damage repaired the same day in most cases. Darren carries replacement cylinders, deadlocks, handles and anti-snap hardware on the van — the property won't be left unsecured.
Anti-snap cylinders and Ultion security hardware fitted on the same visit. Ultion locks and handles combined carry a £5,000 manufacturer's guarantee against lock snapping.
Dropped handle, stiff mechanism, door that won't lock? Sometimes it's gearbox failure; sometimes it's door alignment — and catching an alignment issue early can significantly cut the cost of the repair. Darren diagnoses on site and carries the most common parts for a same-visit fix.
Lock failure at business premises — Darren covers shops, offices and commercial units across Cheshire. Same fast response, no call-out fee and a clear quote before work begins.
A full assessment of every door, lock and entry point. Darren identifies weak spots and gives you honest advice on what to prioritise and no obligation to proceed.

All of it — the village centre and Park Lane crossroads, Higher Poynton, Middlewood, the estates off Dickens Lane and South Park Drive, and out to the Woodford and Adlington borders. If you're on the edge of SK12 and not sure, call and Darren will tell you straight whether he can reach you quickly.
It depends which part of town you're in. Poynton has grown a great deal since the 1940s, so much of the housing is estate-built with uPVC or composite doors running multipoint locking systems. The older brick cottages and terraces nearer the village centre and Higher Poynton more often have mortice and rim locks. Darren carries stock for both, so SK12 jobs are usually done on the first visit.
Most Poynton insurers want a BS3621 five-lever mortice or nightlatch on a wooden door, and a TS007 three-star or equivalent anti-snap cylinder on a uPVC or composite door. Darren fits British Standard locks as standard and will tell you before he starts whether what's on your door already meets it.
Yes. Changeovers on rentals around Poynton station and the village are a regular job. He fits a new cylinder, which comes with its own fresh keys — the old tenant's keys stop working the moment it goes in. He can also key several doors on a property alike so one key runs the lot.
There's no call-out fee and no VAT. You get the price for the work before anything starts, and it doesn't change once he's there. That applies whether you're five minutes away in the village or out at Higher Poynton.
Darren doesn't cut replacement keys. He changes the cylinder instead, which is the safer answer anyway: the new cylinder comes with its own set of keys and any lost key is dead from that point on. He'll tell you on the doorstep in Poynton what your options are and what each one costs before touching the door.
