Whether you’re locked out of a home on Withinlee Road, need the locks changed on a period cottage near the village centre, or a uPVC door has failed on one of the larger properties off Macclesfield Road, you’ll speak directly to Darren when you call. He’s a Cheshire-based locksmith and can reach you anywhere across the SK10 area in around 30 minutes.
Prestbury covers a real spread of property. There are the large detached and gated homes along Withinlee Road, Castle Hill and Wilmslow Road — the kind of properties that often have high-security cylinders and multi-point systems. There are timber-framed and period cottages in the conservation area around The Village and St Peter’s Church, plenty still running traditional mortice locks. And there are the newer executive builds where uPVC and composite doors are standard. Darren works on all of them and carries the parts most jobs need on the van, so the majority are sorted on the first visit. Anything that has to be ordered he’ll usually have within two or three days.
Security upgrades are a regular part of the work here too — plenty of homeowners want something stronger than a factory-fitted lock, and Darren can advise and fit Ultion anti-snap cylinders on the same visit. When Ultion locks and handles are fitted together they carry a £5,000 manufacturer’s guarantee against snapping.
Rapid Response: 30-minute arrival across Prestbury and nearby areas including Butley, Mottram St Andrew and Poynton.
Fair Pricing: No call-out fees, no VAT, and no hidden costs. The price agreed before work starts is the price you pay.
Damage-Free Entry: Specialist tools to get you back inside without harming the door, which matters on the older and higher-value doors around the village.
Local Knowledge: Expert service for every property type, from gated detached homes on Withinlee Road to period cottages near St Peter’s Church and uPVC-door builds across SK10.

Locked out? Darren gains access using specialist tools — non-destructive in the vast majority of cases, leaving your door, frame and lock intact.
Lost your keys? The proper fix isn't cutting new ones — it's changing the cylinder so the originals don't work at all. Darren fits a new cylinder with fresh keys included, on the same visit.
Darren carries euro cylinders, mortice locks and British Standard approved options on the van — fitted on the same visit, old keys stop working immediately.
Break-in damage repaired the same day in most cases. Darren carries replacement cylinders, deadlocks, handles and anti-snap hardware on the van — the property won't be left unsecured.
Anti-snap cylinders and Ultion security hardware fitted on the same visit. Ultion locks and handles combined carry a £5,000 manufacturer's guarantee against lock snapping.
Dropped handle, stiff mechanism, door that won't lock? Sometimes it's gearbox failure; sometimes it's door alignment — and catching an alignment issue early can significantly cut the cost of the repair. Darren diagnoses on site and carries the most common parts for a same-visit fix.
Lock failure at business premises — Darren covers shops, offices and commercial units across Cheshire. Same fast response, no call-out fee and a clear quote before work begins.

Yes. Darren covers the whole of Prestbury and the wider SK10 area, from the village centre and the conservation area around St Peter's Church out to the larger properties on Withinlee Road, Castle Hill and the lanes towards Mottram St Andrew and Butley. If you're on the edge of the village and not sure whether you're in range, just call. You'll get a straight answer on timing rather than a vague promise.
Yes. A lot of the larger homes around Withinlee Road and Castle Hill already run high-security multi-point systems and premium cylinders, and Darren works with all of them. If you want to upgrade, he fits Ultion anti-snap cylinders, which are built to resist lock snapping. Fit the Ultion locks and handles together and they come with a £5,000 manufacturer's guarantee against snapping. He'll check what you've currently got on site and give you a straight recommendation rather than upselling you something you don't need.
Yes. A break-in is treated as an emergency and Darren will get to you as quickly as he can, usually within about 30 minutes. He'll repair or replace whatever's been forced, whether that's a snapped cylinder, a damaged multi-point mechanism or a forced door, and make the property properly secure the same day. If it makes sense to upgrade the affected locks to anti-snap at the same time he'll talk you through it, but the first priority is getting you locked up and safe again.
Yes. The period and timber-framed cottages around The Village and the conservation area often still run traditional mortice and rim locks, and Darren is comfortable working on older mechanisms as well as modern ones. Where an old lock can be repaired and kept, he'll do that. Where it needs replacing he can fit a British Standard insurance-approved mortice lock that suits the door without spoiling its character. You'll get honest advice on which way to go.
Yes, that's a keyed-alike setup, and it's a common request on the larger Prestbury homes that have a front door, back door, garage side door and sometimes an outbuilding. One key operating every lock saves carrying a bunch around. Darren needs a quick site visit first to check the lock types and sizes before ordering the cylinders, then it's usually turned around within a few days.
Nine times out of ten this is the multi-point gearbox starting to fail, not the door itself. When the gearbox wears the handle gets stiff to lift and eventually won't engage the locking points at all. Darren carries replacement gearboxes for the most common types on the van, so this is usually fixed on the first visit. If the handle is only slightly stiff it can sometimes be an alignment issue instead, which is a simpler fix. Either way, worth calling before you force it, because forcing a failing handle can turn a small job into a bigger one.
